Cold shooting and turnovers are recipes for disaster in basketball. While battling the Harker Heights Knights, the undersized Connally Cougars struggled on the offensive end and with turnovers most of the evening, as they lost to the Knights 63-38. This game was played at the Austin Convention Center before the Austin Toros did battle against a D-League opponent.

The Cougars started fast and took a 7-2 lead on a Lindsey Wilson three-point shot. However, poor transition defense and turnovers would allow the Knights to take control of the rest of the quarter, as Allantae Faust and Daevan Brown would lead their team on a 16-4 run. Faust and Brown each scored seven points in the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Cougars cut the Knights lead to 18-15, after back-to-back baskets from DarRenaldo Hall and Jhordan Mason. Hall would score on an exciting coast-to-coast drive, while Mason scored on a lay-up. The Cougars would remain close early in the quarter before going cold from the field, as the Knights went on a 12-4 run to close the quarter and took a commanding 35-23 lead at halftime.

At the start of the third quarter, the Knights went on a 10-2 run to take a 45-25 lead. The Cougars would cut their lead to 48-33 behind the strong play of Marcel Pimpton. Pimpton a very talented sophomore guard, scored a basket and made two free throws, while providing the Cougars with strong aggressive defense towards the end of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Knights quickly put the game out of reach with a 9-0 run to start the quarter which made the score 57-33. The Cougars would only manage five points the entire quarter, as turnovers and blown lay-ups allowed the Knights to pull away with an easy victory.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Mason and Hall, who each had six points. and took a commanding 35-23 lead at halftime.
