The Connally Cougars swept a three-way meet at Hendrickson High last week, besting the host Hawks 46-28 and Austin McCallum 48-27.

Damon Anderson scored a pinfall win for Connally against Hendrickson, beating Anthony Nuñez at 119 pounds. The Cougars got wins via pin from Don Tran (130), Davonte Lyons (135), Andrew Hellriegel (171), Jake Wertz (215) and James Revada (285). Lawerence Lott (125) won by forfeit. Chris Fuson (145) won on points, 18-9. Andrew Hendrick (152) also won by forfeit.

Royzell Gothwright (140), Jonathan Ybarra (180) and Omar Contreras (189) scored wins for the Hawks.

In the match with McCallum, the Cougars got wins from Tran, Lyons, Hendrick, Hellriegel, Hernandez, Kenneth Defee (189), Jake Wertz (215) and Revada (285).

The Cougars lost twice at their next meet, falling to Cedar Park 64-16 and to Bryan 60-28.

Anderson, Lott, Defee and Wertz scored the Cougars’ only wins against Cedar Park.

Ashton Thielke (171), Kevyn Hernandez (180), Defee and Wertz were the winners against Bryan.
