Woodrow Wilson Smith, of Pflugerville, died of Feb. 2, 2010.

Mr. Smith was born in Big Springs, Okla. on Dec.  12, 1919 to William Joseph and Lula Blanche Mason Smith.

He married his high school sweetheart, Martha Florence Gentry at Horntown, Okla. on July 31, 1940.  They were longtime residents of Holdenville and lived in the Houston and Austin areas for many years.

As a World War II veteran, Mr. Smith rarely spoke of his service to our country.  He served as an RdM1 – Radarman First Class, patrolling the South Pacific near the Marianas in various battles against the Japanese Navy.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Mary Jane.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Martha Florence Gentry Smith, brother Glen Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana, brother William “Dub” Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., sister Norma Moses of Hurst, Texas, son Barney Smith and his wife, Norma, of Houston; daughter Lena Davis and husband, Joel, of Kyle; son Ronnie Smith of Pflugerville; daughter Susan Deason and husband, Therman, of Georgetown; and daughter Julie Petrus and husband, Kevin, of Pflugerville.

Visitation was held at Cook Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.

Funeral services were scheduled for Feb. 8, 2010 at the Memorial Chapel of Cook Walden/Capital Parks.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
