The Hendrickson Hawks and the Austin Reagan Raiders have met in the first round of the playoffs for the last two years. Last year the Raiders edged the Hawks 64-63 in the closing seconds but this year the Hawks returned the favor with a 70-69 victory. Led by the play of junior guard Jalen Harris, the Hawks scored the winning basket with 25 seconds left when Harris drove to the basket and found Damarion Jackson for a layup. However, the Raiders quickly countered with a transition basket but the points were nullified, as Hawks Coach Jim Reid had called time out immediately after Jackson’s basket. The Raiders got a shot attempt in the closing seconds but it rolled off the rim, giving the Hawks the victory.
In the first quarter, the Hawks took an 18-12 lead following back to back 3-pointers by Tony Thompson and Jalen Washington. The Raiders got two free throws to close the quarter to make the score 18-14.

In the third quarter, the Raiders built their lead to 39-32 following a basket by Brandon Golden. The Hawks managed to stay close in the quarter behind the play of Harris, who scored 15 points in the quarter. Harris gave the Hawks the lead at 57-56 after connecting on two free throws. However, the Raiders closed out the quarter with a 61-59 lead following a Jaquerius Daniels basket.
