Hendrickson High School’s Micaela Moncada will be the lone PISD representative at this weekend’s state swimming meet. Moncada won the 100-yard breaststroke at the region meet in San Antonio to earn the honor of representing the Hawks at state for the second year in a row.

The Hawk girls placed fourth at the region meet and the boys were eighth. Hendrickson’s 200 freestyle relay team took fourth. Emily Etnyre was fourth in the 200 freestyle. Moncada placed sixth and Meghan Overheim was seventh. Sarah Overheim was fifth in the 200 IM, Rachel McMahon was 11th in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 100 freestyle and the girls’ 200 freestyle relay team placed fourth.

The Hawks’ boys 200 freestyle relay placed eighth. Michael Forbes was 11th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 100 backstroke, Chuck Saunders placed ninth in the 50 freestyle, Aaron Overheim was seventh in the 100 butterfly and eighth in the 100 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle relay team took seventh.

No Pflugerville High swimmer qualified for state although the Panthers had plenty of people competing at region. Their top finish came from Debbi Lawrence who took seventh place in the 200 IM. Lawrence also scored a 10th place finish in the 500 freestyle and teamed with Kelly Wright, Alyssa Alvarez and Katelyn McMullen to take 10th in the 200 medley relay.
