The Lady Panthers were hitting on all cylinders as they took to the field and ran over the Akins Lady Eagles 7-0 on Friday.
The Panthers took control right from the start as they ran down with the ball and began peppering the opposing goal with shots. It took a mere five minutes to have the first score by Damaris Lopez who put in a nice shot from the cross of Christie Hinajosa.
Hinajosa played on the wing and was able to dribble up the side and feed in timely crosses which led to several great scoring opportunities.
The Panthers kept knocking on the door and were rewarded with their next goal with 17 minutes left in the first half. Having just won a corner kick, Jessica Stanford curved a powerful shot past the goalie making it 2-0.
Half a minute later the Panthers were at it again. Hinajosa took the ball up the left side past the defense and in on the charging goalie who she beat with a laser into the net, giving Pflugerville a 3-0 lead.
The play was fast and furious with the Panthers keeping control of the ball. Lillie Ehlert took the throw-in feed from Stanford and dribbled in and blasted a rocket of a shot bringing the score to 4-0.
With nine minutes remaining in the first half, the Panthers scored on another attempt with a hard crashing play to the net. Lopez chipped in the ball from close range and got clobbered by the keeper and a defender for her effort, but pushed Pflugerville’s lead to 5-0 in the process.
The Panthers started the second half with the same pressure and got right back on the board moments after touching the ball. Two minutes in Stanford fed a looping pass that Cristin Heilker fired into the net with nice accuracy to make it 6-0. The Eagles got their first scoring chance and corner kick of the game several minutes later but the Panthers shut the door marking well and cleared the ball out.
The Panthers made it 7-0 with 27 minutes left in the game. Hinajosa ripped a shot past the keeper after receiving a nice pass from Heilker.
