400 meter relayThe Connally High boys track team defended their home turf and won the recent Cougar Relays. The Cougars finished the day with 178 points. Hendrickson was second with 168. On the girls’ side, Killeen Ellison was triumphant with 244 points. Hendrickson was second with 160 and Connally third with 90.

Jacael Davis had a big day for the Cougars. He won the 110-meter hurdles (14.91 seconds) and the triple jump (43-feet-0.25-inches) and teamed with Brandon Pittman, Jacoby Sanders and Brian Washington to win the 400 relay (42.58). Sanders, Jon Haywood, Tray Rice and Marcus Edwards won the 800 relay (2:10.41) while Aaron Bynum won the discus (144-0) and Washington took the 200 (22.28).

The Hawks got firsts from Josh McKinney in the 800 (2:38.10), Hector Flores in the 1600 (4:59.30), Jeramy Triplett in the 3200 (10:28.30) and Brandon Perkins in the pole vault (11-0). The team of Deionta James, Derwood Kirby, Kyndall Clanton and Josh McKinney won the 1600 relay (3:27.90).

In the 100, Connally got a second from Tray Rice (11.20) and a fourth from Marcus Edwards (11.27). Edwards finished second in the 200 (22.71) and Rice was third (22.72). Deon Gaddy placed fifth in the 400 (56.04). Haywood placed sixth in the 110 hurdles (15.45). Dion Martin was second in the 300 hurdles (41.77) and Kenny Defee took fifth (43.10). Sanders, Martin, Pittman and Washington placed second in the 1600 relay (3:31.10). Davis was second in the long jump (21-9.5) and Rice was sixth (20-11.5). James Revada took fifth in the discus (119-1). Rice was second in the triple jump (42-8.5) and Sanders took third (42-2.75). Davis finished second in the high jump (6-4). Gaddy was third (6-2) and Defee fourth (5-10).

Daje Johnson took third (11.21) for the Hawks in the 100 and Zach Caballero was sixth (11.44). Kirby placed fourth in the 200 (23.08). McKinney was second in the 400 (49.90), Kirby was third (51.10) and James fourth (53.43). Triplett was third in the 800 (3:22) and Austin Oden took sixth (3:31.50). Austin Evans finished third in the 1600 (5:11.50). Flores was second in the 3200 (10:49.10) and Evans took third (11:07.80). The team of Johnson, Tommie Robins, Caballero and Juan Asencio finished third (43.38) in the 400 relay. Johnson, Clanton, Robins and Asencio were third in the 800 relay (2:11.98). McKinney finished third in the long jump (21-6). Ryan Allen took fourth in the shot put (44-8.5), Robins fifth (43-5.5) and Terrence Simmons sixth (42-9). Simmons placed fourth in the discus (123-9) and Jeffrey Travillion was sixth (117-8). Max Willis finished fifth in the high jump (5-10). Taylor Smith took second in the pole vault (8-0).

The Hawk girls were led by Sade Triplett who won the 1600 (5:56) and the 3200 (12:36) and Tasha Mayne who won the pole vault (8-6). Hendrickson also got wins from the team of Karissa Gravesmill, Brittany Gaines, Kiana Burgess and Shavona Tavarez in the 400 relay (49.40) and the 800 relay (2:25.75). Glad Nwaozo won the high jump (5-0).

Connally got firsts from Britney Roberts in the shot put (41-6) and the discus (110-1). Cindy Okpegbue won the long jump (17-2.75) to score the Cougars only other win.

Gravesmill took fourth in the 100 (13.18) for the Hawks. Nwaozo finished sixth (13.86). Tavarez was third in the 200 (26.37) and Burgess fifth (27.05). Kayla Brown was fourth in the 400 (1:41.86) and Tierra McCaster was sixth (1:43.26). Tayne Ramos was second in the 1600 (6:02). Alexandria Bradburn was second in the 3200 (13:28). Gaines, Brown, Mayne and Buckner were fourth in the 1600 relay (4:15.10). Burgess placed second in the long jump (16-7). Mayne was fourth in the shot put (29-9.5), Chelsea Neille fifth (29-1.5) and Karissa Allen sixth (25-7). Neille took fifth in the discus (59-10). Tavarez was second in the triple jump (32-0.5) and Burgess was sixth (26-2).

Bianca Williams finished fourth in the 200 (26.97) for the Cougars. Okpegbue was second in the 400 (59.95). Mayne placed second in the 800 (3:43.90), Brown fourth (3:46.90) and Cameo Buckner fifth (3:51.20). Katy Howell was sixth in the 800 (3:52.20). Megan Matthews took second in the 100 hurdles (15.90) and third in the 300 hurdles (49.81). Matthews, Williams, Kali Jerrell and Simi Aliu took third in the 800 relay (2:29.49). Howell, Aliu, McCaster and Okpegbue finished second in the 1600 relay (4:10.62). Matthews finished fourth in the long jump (15-10).

In the junior varsity division, the Connally boys and the Pflugerville girls came out on top. The Cougar boys finished with 195 points. Stony Point was second with 158. Pflugerville was third with 127 and Hendrickson fourth with 94. The Panther girls finished with 223 points. Stony Point was second with 164. Connally was fourth with 37, Hendrickson fifth with 36.

The Cougar boys got wins from Jordan Libios in the 100 (11.69), Adrian Williams in the 1600 (5:05.60), Jerrel Yarbrough in the 110 hurdles (16.82), Travon Baldwin in the 300 hurdles (42.90), Dejon Williams in the long jump (19-10.5) and Zach Freeland in the discus (102-8). Connally also won the 400 relay with the team of Jim Roberts, Andrew Hellriegle, Libios and Nathaniel Richardson finishing in 45.37. Pflugerville got wins from Micah Rios in the 3200 (10:51.50) and Idell McArthur in the triple jump (39-0). Hendrickson’s lone win came courtesy of Neil Haight who won the pole vault (9-0).

Ashley Onuorah won the 100 (12.88) for the Panther girls. Curtiesha Woods won the 200 (27.40), Moyra Tran the 1600 (5:54) and the 3200 (13:03), Taliyah Brooks won the 100 hurdles (14.65), the long jump (17-8), the high jump (5-6) and the 300 hurdles (46.37). Jalyssa McGill won the discus (81-3). Haley Vander Laan won the pole vault (6-6). Amber Parma, Vera-Mae Walker, Taylor Cobbs and Woods teamed to win the 400 relay (51.24) and Jasmine Brooks, Taliyah Brooks, Parma and Walker won the 800 relay (2:27.09).

Hendrickson’s Mariah Millsaps won the 400 (1:43.03).
