topstorytoriThe 11th Annual Austin Area All Star Softball Game took place last Wednesday and Pflugerville was well represented as four players were named to the North squad that was coached by Pflugerville Head Coach David Sisson. Representing Pflugerville for the North squad were Panthers teammates Tori Gomez, Haley Outon and Diedre Outon. Hendrickson’s Kirsten Warner was also named to the team but was unavailable to participate in the contest.

After falling behind 1-0 the North squad rattled off five unanswered runs to take the game by a final score of 5-1.

“The talent is unbelievable is when you have a collection of players like this,” said Sisson. “I enjoyed the game and it’s good to see so many great athletes come together here.”

Diedre Outon started in the circle for the North and was impressive in her four innings of work as she held the South All Stars to one run.

The North got on the board in the second inning when Coralee Ramirez’s (Vista Ridge) sac fly scored fellow Rangers Rachel Burton to the pull the North even at 1-1 after two innings of play.

The Pflugerville players shined in the third inning as a two-run single by Torres scored Diedre Outon and Westwood’s Daniele Durham giving the North a 3-1 advantage.

In the fifth inning the North turned the pitching duties over to LaGrange’s Katelin Wolff. Wolff, who was named the North MVP, had seven K’s and only gave up three hits in her five innings of work.

The North added runs in the fifth and seventh innings to round out the scoring. Both runs came courtesy of Burnet’s Kerstyn Towslee. In the fifth Towslee scored on a wild pitch and then followed that up with another run in the seventh this time scoring on a RBI double off the bat of Elgin’s Megan Moore.

The South’s MVP was Hays’ Amanda Ruiz who dazzled everyone with two defensive highlight plays in the outfield.
