The Round Rock Dragons managed to defeat the Connally Cougars on Tuesday night in three straight games 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19. The Dragon were led by the play of Lauren Aiple, and Trisha Langely. Aiple finished the match with 12 kills and 10 assists, while Langley added seven kills and three aces.

In the first game, the Cougars took an early 5-2 lead following a kill by Cindy Okpegbue. However, the Dragons quickly tied the game at 5-5 after a kill by Aiple. The Dragons got consecutive aces from Langely to increase their lead to 5-7. The Cougars regained the lead at 11-10 following consecutive aces by Melissa Garrett. That would be the last time the Cougars would lead in the game, as the Dragons were able to take control behind the strong play of Aiple, who had three kills down the stretch to give the Dragons the 20-25 victory.

In game two, the Dragons never trailed and held a 9-5 lead following an ace by Annie Russia. The Cougars cut the Dragons lead to 11-9 following a couple devastating kills by Okpegbue. Okpegbue and Alexis Horton kept the Cougars close before the Dragons went on a 10-5 run to widen the gap to 21-14. The Dragons closed out the game with two kills from Lauren Gray.

In the final game, the Cougars started quickly behind the play of Okpegbue and Carla Alcocer, taking an early 4-1 lead. A kill by Okpegbue made the score 12-8 but mistakes quickly ended the Cougars success and the Dragons took control of the game.

Okpegbue led the Cougars in kills with 10, Kristen Caldwell added 21 assists and Carla Alcocer finished with 14 digs.
