Torrential rainfall caused road closures and changes in plans for local residents Tuesday and Wednesday.

City officials on Wednesday morning noted the low water crossing on Kelly Lane at Villlamoura Street was closed. East Pflugerville Parkway, just off FM 685 was also closed due to flooding. To access state Highway 130 from FM 685, motorists were asked to use Pecan Street or the crossover on FM 685 at StoneHill.

At Kelly Lane Middle School Wednesday morning, Principal Devin Padavil noted late arrivals would be excused as motorists had to take longer routes to school than usual. Easternmost parts of Kelly Lane had water running over the roadway.

Schools were expected to open at normal hours Thursday, but the weather caused Park Crest and Kelly Lane middle school football games to be moved to alternate fields Wednesday. Park Crest switched seventh- and eighth-grade games, which became scrimmages, to Pflugerville High School. Kelly Lane seventh- and eighth-grade football games were moved to Hendrickson High and were also changed to scrimmages.
