Star Furniture opens new showroom

Star Furniture opened a new, freestanding 75,000-square-foot state-of-the-art showroom in north Austin on Sept. 16.

The new store is located at 14051 N. Interstate 35, between Parmer Lane and Howard Lane. The new location reflects Star’s belief in and long-term commitment to Austin and the surrounding communities, business officials said.

“We have gone to extraordinary lengths to understand what customers in Austin are looking for, not only in a store, but in the experience,” Bill Kimbrell, CEO of Star Furniture, said in a written statement. “We have carefully created a shopping environment that’s different from any store in Austin. The furniture in our store reflects the lifestyle and taste level of this community, with a focus on affordability. We are incredibly proud and have already received rave reviews from customers who have taken a sneak peek.”

The new showroom is the company’s flagship location in Austin and is one of 10 locations in Texas; seven of which are in the Houston area, with the remainder in San Antonio and Bryan.

The company made its first deliveries as a family-owned business in 1912. In 1997, Star Furniture joined the Berkshire Hathaway group.

Chamber Pfamily Pfestival and Expo

The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce hosts its 2010 Pfamily Pfestival and Expo on Oct. 16 at Hill Country Bible Church, 303 E. Pflugerville Parkway.

This year marks the chamber’s 25th anniversary and the 12th year of celebrating the yearly event to showcase the Pflugerville business community. Admission is free.

The event will include merchant booths, performances by local church and youth groups, classic auto displays, children’s activities, helicopter displays, demonstrations, a fire safety house and more.

Concessions will be provided by participating restaurant merchants, plus all represented businesses will offer door prizes.
